Sapa – Vietnam’s Northwestern paradise

It is not by chance that Sapa is the most promising travelling destination in the Northwest of Vietnam. Sapa is the ideal place for relaxing, discovering, enjoying and even honeymoon for young couples. For Vietnamese people, even not come to Sapa, they can sense the beauty of Sapa through poems, songs , novels, photos . It can be said that Sapa has long been an abundant inspiration for artists to create great works with peach-blossom, love market, Bac serenade, Ham Rong Mountain … But the works cannot fully illustrate the dreaming and mysterious beauty of Sapa. In order to sense the beauty, you had better pay a visit to Sapa – the paradise of the Northwest.

Someone said that Sapa is the most beautiful in the spring but I personally think that Sapa has its own distinctive beauty in each season. In spring, the mountains in Sapa are not only covered with the vivid color of blooming peach-blossom and plum blossom but also the foggy coat in the early morning which make a mysterious scene. As the sun rises, the mountains gradually take the foggy coat off and welcome the gold sunshine and it is the best time in the day to see blooming flowers and visit waterfalls.

If spring is the time for blooming, the summer is the time for fruiting. Unlike the extreme hot climate in the lowland, Sapa is favored for a cool and fresh summer with a green color covers all the mountains, forests, villages and terraces. Summer is the season of many local products like fruits, vegetables and many craft products. With the cool and dry weather, it is the best time in the year to conquer Fansipan Mountain – the roof of the Indochina for adventurous people.

In the autumn, Sapa is dressed up by the yellow color of paddy fields in the terraces which are already for harvesting. The city also decorated with the purple color of buckwheat flower in Bac Ha, this kind of flower is seeded right after harvesting the rice in paddy field in the end of October. When the flowers bloom, they create a magical purple carpet which lightens the valleys with a dreaming light. It is very awesome to walk along the buckwheat fields and capture great photos.

Sapa is famous for winter due to the extremely cold climate with snow and ice. However, this does not reduce the amount of tourists come to Sapa. It is the snow falls on trees, houses and the ice frozen onto the boughs attracts more and more curious tourists all over the nation. The tourists fancifully play under the snowy weather so that they forget the feeling of cold. Sapa is the only site in Vietnam where people can see the snow falls with high topography. Not only the snow and ice but also the fog makes Sapa a silent and mysterious beauty which appears in certain famous novel.

Come to Sapa in each season, each one has their own sense for the beauty of the city. But I always have a question in my mind that “After all, how cans the beauty of Sapa fascinate the travellers that they are all come back to it after once?”. May be, I will come to Sapa four times in different time of year to answer this question.
